Reassemble This Mortal Coil
The mortal coil refers to our own physicality, and the understanding that we have been given the greatest gift, the gift of life. With this gift we have also been given the knowledge that it will be taken away from us due to our mortality. Reassemble This Mortal Coil came as a poignant response to The Morgue, where I contemplated upon my experiences and sensibilities of loss. This work is inspired by the longing to reassemble those who we have lost, and the letting go that is yet to come.
“For in that sleep of death, what dreams may come. When we have shuffled off this mortal coil. Must give us pause.” - William Shakespeare.
